We love to come up with Signature Drinks for your event – whether that’s a cocktail with your favorite alcohol or a mocktail that showcases the colors of your event. Our theme for today is Corona. We filmed this video as part of the Hewitt Oaks Open House. When we had to postpone our in-person plans due to coronavirus, we decided to turn it into a virtual event with videos to help you re-create the Southern Graces experience at home.
We’re the type to always find a way to make lemonade out of lemons, so of course we had a little fun with our Signature Cocktail theme! We heard that Corona beer was one of the last kinds left on the shelves (for obvious reasons!), so we decided to create a couple drink recipes for you to enjoy during your own personal at-home happy hour.
Follow along as Crystal Britt, one of the Event Planners at Southern Graces and Hewitt Oaks, shows how to make these two Corona cocktails. She also shares some useful tips:
- How to make your own flavor-infused vodka
- An easy (and cheap!) alternative to maple syrup for your pancakes
- What you should ALWAYS do when making a cocktail
This first cocktail is named for all the parents who’ve been thrown into managing school at home with stir-crazy kids! We have a lot of respect for homeschool parents, and we know that for those of you who aren’t used to that, you might be struggling. This drink’s for you – Parent Punch. The best part is you probably already have a lot of these ingredients in your cabinet. This recipe makes two 16oz. servings or you can multiply it as much as you like for a larger batch!
PARENT PUNCH
Ingredients
3 ounces Whiskey
8 ounces Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
2 ounces Mint Simple Syrup
12 ounces Corona Light® Beer
Instructions
- Fill a pint glass with lots of ice.
- Add whiskey, mint simple syrup, and grapefruit juice.
- Stir it 10 times.
- Top it off with Corona Light and stir lightly.
- Garnish with grapefruit slices and mint.
Mint Simple Syrup
Combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar. Boil until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Drop in ¾ cup fresh mint and let it sit until it comes to room temperature.
For an easy and super quick option, try the Corona Strong. This drink is named because we stand strong against this crisis! It’s just two ingredients: lemon vodka and Corona beer, and you can easily make lemon vodka at home.
